A NEWPORT adventurer and a Valleys politican received honorary fellowships at Cardiff University yesterday.
Former Wales and Barbarians flanker Richard Parks, who in 2011 made history with his 737 Challenge, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for Marie Curie Cancer Care received the honour alongside Baroness Glenys Kinnock, from Blackwood.
Baroness Kinnock of Holyhead, wife of former Labour party leader, Lord Neil Kinnock, is a British politician and currently the opposition spokeswoman for the Department of International Development in the House of Lords.
Mr Parks is currently training for his next challenge, known only as Project X.
Honorary fellowships and degrees are awarded to those who have achieved international distinction in their field.
Around 6,000 students graduated from Cardiff University during this year’s ceremonies.
