A WOMAN shaved her head to raise funds in memory of her stillborn grandson.
Tracey White, 48, of Duffryn, took on the challenge to celebrate what would have been the second birthday of her grandson Mason Boyes-White who was stillborn in July 2011.
Money raised from the event is still being counted up and will be donated to SANDS, the stillbirth and neonatal charity.
The charity helped Mason’s family, including mother Samantha Boyes and father Lee White, at the time of the tragedy by providing support and also helping to create a memory box.
Ms Boyes had enjoyed a healthy pregnancy but Mason was sadly stillborn on July 11, 2011 weighing 6lb 12oz. The family later found out Mason had died from nuchal cord compression which is when a cord wraps around a child at birth. Ms White said: “I did not want to mourn anymore.
I wanted to celebrate and help raise awareness to help other parents.”
The headshave took place at Asda, Newport Retail Park, where Ms White works. The shaved locks will be donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
