PUPILS from a Newport high school will see their artwork on display at the city’s Riverfront Theatre this week, as part of a major showcase of school work.
Almost 100 pupils from BTEC photography, GCSE and A-Level art classes at St Julian’s School will get to see their work displayed from July 18 until August 10. Head of art Katy Nash explained: “It is something we have done in the past for A-Level but we hope to try and promote our artwork as much as we can every year, whether it’s at the Riverfront or another venue to showcase the talent.”
Pupils recently showed off their completed art pieces to their parents at a preview evening at the school.
In total 56 GCSE artists will show their work at the Riverfront, along with 17 studying BTEC photography, 14 AS-Level artists and eight studying A-Level art.
The mix of Year 11, 12 and 13 work will mean that everything from photographs and prints to drawings, paintings, 3D work and collages will be on display.
“This art exhibition is highlighting the creativity of our students in the wider community,” said Miss Nash.
“We have a lot of talented kids here and it is nice for them to show off all their hard work to the rest of the city.”
