FOUR Pontypool people pleaded guilty to affray following a fight in Chepstow town centre.

Luke Osmond, 22, of Orchard Close, Trevethin, Robert Jackson, 21, of Waunddu, Pontnewynydd, Shane Simons, 36, of Hillside Drive and Leon Jones, 21, of College Road, all appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where they admitted the charge.

Six other defendants of Lydney, Gloucestershire, also pleaded guilty to the same offence.

These were Alix Haddock, 21, and Arron Haddock, 19, both of Harrison Way, Jason Trattles, 21, of Queen Street, Katie Dawson, 27, of Par Four Lane, Billy Turley, 21, of Summerleaze and Leanne Huyton, 25, of Leaze Court.

All ten defendants had been charged with violent disorder but pleaded not guilty to this charge and guilty instead to affray following an incident on December 8 last year. This was accepted by the crown prosecution service.

Frederick Morgan, 47, of College Road, Pontypool, pleaded not guilty to violent disorder but pleaded guilty to a section four public order offence. This was also accepted by the crown prosecution service.

All were released on bail and will be sentenced on August 12.

Thomas Matthews, 23, of Snatchwood Road, Abersychan, Gethin Francombe, 28, of Jubilee Place, Garndiffaith and Thomas Francombe, 25, of Blaendare Road, Pontypool, all pleaded not guilty to violent disorder.

The defendants were released on bail and a further hearing in relation to these three defendants will be held on August 30.

Osmond pleaded not guilty to a charge of escaping custody following the incident. The court heard it was not in the public interest to pursue this and the charge was ordered to lie on file.
