A man who died as a result of a road traffic collision on the A40 on Saturday night (July 20th) has been named as 78-year-old David Marshall from Crickhowell.

The collision between two vehicles – a silver Ford KA and a silver VW Golf – that were travelling in the same direction between Raglan and Abergavenny happened at about 9.30pm.

Mr Marshall was the driver of the silver KA. The female passenger is currently in the Nevill Hall Hospital in a serious condition.

The 44 year old driver of the silver VW Golf has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

The A40 was closed for approximately 10 hours while collision investigators conducted enquiries. Fire Service and Ambulance were also in attendance.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, in particular for the driver of a Ford Transit van or similar, which was believed to be travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred, to contact them on 101 and quote log number 608 20/7/13
