POLICE are trying to identify the cyclist who died in Newbridge yesterday.
Officers are appealing for information to help identify the victim of the fatal crash on the A472.
The collision, between a cyclist and a mini bus, happened at approximately 8.05pm. The cyclist and mini bus were travelling in the same direction towards Blackwood when the incident happened.
The male cyclist was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he later died.
Despite extensive enquiries to identify the man, officers have been unable to and are asking for anyone who recognises the description of the bike and the clothing the man was wearing to come forward.
At the time of the incident the man was riding a grey-coloured Raleigh Pioneer Venture drop handled road bike. It has mudguards and fulcrum racing wheels and pannier brackets front and rear. The man was wearing grey shorts, white Nike trainers and a red long sleeved Paratech top.
The 43-year-old driver of the mini bus has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and is in custody at this time.
