A PHOTOGRAPHY competition to celebrate 50 years of the Gwent Wildlife Trust has been launched.
Budding photographers have been asked to pick up their cameras and start snapping Gwent's stunning wildlife.
The trust has said this is the chance for people who already spend much of their time looking at wildlife, to show what fantastic photos they can create, by going into Gwent's great outdoors and capturing nature.
There are no time limitations of how the picture should be taken but it must have a wildlife or living landscape theme and have been taken at some point in Gwent.
The competition will be divided into two categories, under 16s and over 16s and entrants may only submit one photograph.
The work of the short listed finalists will be displayed at the trust's 2013 AGM in September, where the overall winner in each category will be announced.
Each winner will receive a place on the trust's events in 2014, up to the value of £20.
A wildlife calendar will also be produced by the trust, which will include some of the best entries and photographs from its own archives and will be available for sale in autumn.
To enter, send a photograph on the theme of wildlife or living landscapes to: photocomp@gwentwildlife.org, between August 15 and August 31, 2013.
Entrants must include their full name, contact email address, date of birth and the location of the photograph. For more information go to: www.gwentwildlife.org.
The Argus is backing the trust's bid to raise £50,000 in its 50th anniversary year.
