SEVEN children from in and around the Newport area have been selected to sing in the 2013/14 Wales Millennium Centre/Only Kids Aloud Choir.
In 2012 Wales Millennium Centre teamed up with Only Men Aloud’s Musical Director Tim Rhys Evans to form a joint choir of children from across Wales.
This year the Centre and Tim have once again joined forces and have been scouring Wales looking for talented youngsters between the ages of 9 and 13, girls and boys, to form the 2013/14 choir.
Over the past month auditions were held countrywide and this week Wales Millennium Centre are pleased to announce the 70 children chosen to represent Wales in this new choir, seven of which are from in and around Newport.
Tim Rhys Evans said “We’ve been up and down the country auditioning over 400 children. The talent which came through the doors was exceptional. We must all put as much effort as possible into engaging children with singing if we can continue to claim, long into the future, that Wales really is the land of song.
We’re very much looking forward to an exciting year with our new Only Kids Aloud Chorus.”
The following children from the Newport area have been selected to sing in the choir:
- Alice Mee Bishop from Oakdale
- Ysabelle Morgan Clason Jones and Xavier Morgan Clason Jones from Ridgeway
- Owen Parsons from Glasllwch
- Samuel James from Blackwood
- Carys Lloyd from Bargoed
- Kelly Shorthouse from Cwmbran Plans for the Wales Only Kids Aloud Chorus will will be announced shortly.
