BLAENAU Gwent council was prevented giving a green light to plans today for a £280m racetrack in Ebbw Vale after the Welsh Government waded in to the planning process.
A special council meeting was stopped after four minutes when a letter from the Welsh Government was delivered this morning preventing the council from giving planning permission to the Circuit of Wales.
The meeting was initially called to discuss the conditions of the outline planning permission of the race track in Rassau, Ebbw Vale, which was approved by the council on July 10, subject to a Section 106 agreement.
The letter states the Welsh Government wants to take a further look at the planning application.
The council had today also received a letter from National Resources Wales (NRW) reaffirming their objection to the application.
An official from Heads of the Valleys, the company behind the development of Circuit of Wales, told the Argus that they will hold a meeting with NRW tomorrow.
