THERE will be two open days at Newport Transporter Bridge in August.
The Friends of the Newport Transporter Bridge (FONTB) are organising the events on August 18 and 26 based around a Victorian theme.
FONTB are hoping that the days will bring as many people as possible to the bridge to take part in walking over the top, riding the gondola and visiting the motor house for an all-in price of £2.50.
Visitors can ascend over 250 steps taking them to 242ft above the water level, where they will be rewarded with a view of the Usk Estuary and the Somerset coast beyond.
The day will feature the bridge staff and volunteers from the visitor centre donning Edwardian dress.
Refreshments will be available, with activities such as face-painting and more.
This event will be a celebration of Newport city’s heritage.
It will also honour Godfrey Morgan, Viscount of Tredegar who opened the bridge.
