A GROUP of Chepstow residents were joined by an unusual guest at a tea party.
Around 30 residents of Bethany Residential Home on Old Bulwark Road shared their garden with a classic car that belongs to the home’s manager on Friday.
Robert Phelps runs the home, which was built in 1984 by his grandfather Justice Phelps, with his father Royston Phelps.
Mr Phelps, 25, who is also a car enthusiast and along with his family has a collection of cars, decided to bring his 90-year-old Vintage 1923 Ford Model T along to the afternoon event for residents to enjoy and sit in.
Mr Phelps said residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing the car which brought back memories of times gone by and were also treated to tea and scones.
He said: “We try to hold regular events at Bethany, which currently has 34 residents.
"We have just bought a 1923 Ford, which originated in America and was used in Britain by an American General when he was in the country.
“We also know the car has toured Europe several times and restored twice. It is now the oldest classic car in my family’s collection.
“We decided to hold a tea party and had the idea to bring the car along because many of the residents were teenagers when these cars were first around so it was nice for them to see one again and reminisce.”
