CHILDREN took part in a fairy and elf training camp at Usk Castle yesterday when they learned how to dress and act like magical creatures.
The Fairy Queen, Nadine Fletcher, who runs the craft workshop company Craftastic, made headdresses and pretend daggers with the children, before they had story time and a treasure quest around the castle, ending up at a specially constructed fairy village.
The new fairies and elves received certificates at the end, while parents walked round the shopping mall and ice cream sellers at the family event, attended by 250 people.
Mrs Fletcher, 28, a former events manager, started the company after having two children of her own and can usually be found leading children's craft workshops at Usk garden centre.
