POLICE are trying to find a "very distressed" woman who flagged down a car in Cwmbran.
The woman flagged down the car on Ton Road close to the new houses being built by Hollybush Junior and Infants School at 12.30pm on Friday.
She is described as being of Chinese origin, in her 20s and had black hair worn in a ponytail.
Police said she was in a "very distressed state" and appeared to have bruising on her neck.
The woman spoke very little English and was wearing a white blouse with a yellow vest underneath.
The driver called the police but the woman left almost straight away and could not be found when officers arrived.
Chief Inspector Rod Grindley said: "We have real concerns for the welfare and safety of this woman, and since receiving this report officers have exhausted a number of lines of enquiry to establish her identify.
"We would anyone who may have seen her or knows her identity to contact Gwent Police on 101. If someone wants to do this anonymously they can do so by ringing Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 quoting log 297 02/08/13.“
