PENARTH and Dinas Runners were all smiles after taking part in a rain sodden Brecon 10 mile race on the weekend.
Runners were desperate to score points over eachother as the race formed part of the club championship.
A total of 259 runners took part in the race on Sunday, August 4, in torrential rain.
The 10 mile road race started at Brecon Athletics Club, where runners began the race by running nearly two laps of the track, before the route branched off on to the roads.
The route had been slightly altered from previous years with a short and sharp hill near the end cut out of the race.
The new route was largely flat, with a largely downhill section at the start, a few mild undulations in the middle and a gradual climb towards the end.
After the race each runner was awarded a medal and a commemorative orange t-shirt.
Gary Brown was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line, and 14th overall, in a Personal Best (PB) time of 1.01.25.
Richard Jackson-Hookins, in his first attempt at running a 10 mile race, finished in 1.04.48 in 22nd place.
Clem Clement finished in 1.09.13.
Chris Seal, Andrew Frayling and Chris Herdman were all involved in a closely fought battle throughout the race.
Chris Seal achieved a PB by over three minutes with 1.11.36, Andrew Frayling finished in 1.11.57 in his first attempt at a 10 mile race and Chris Herdman took over three minutes off his PB with 1.12.02.
Lisa Cleary was the first woman from Penarth to cross the finish line with a time of 1.13.52.
Malcolm Bradley was next with 1.14.36.
Marc Durkin took an impressive 10 minutes off his PB from last year with 1.16.02
Andrea Hurman achieved 1.17.14.
Rhodri Evans finished in 1.23.24.
Janice Clement 1.28.26.
