CADW is launching a photo competition to encourage visitors to capture their most memorable summer holiday moments at its sites across Wales, as part of its Legendary Summer campaign.

Visitors of all ages are being asked to share their summer adventures by entering a snap of themselves enjoying a day out at one of Cadw’s historic sites, completing one of the 30 fun things to do from Cadw’s downloadable summer checklist.

Activities featured in the summer checklist include telling stories from a standing stone and re-enacting a battle on the grounds of a medieval castle, to playing a game of hide and seek in castle walls and making daisy chain crowns.

Visitors to Blaenavon Ironworks can snap themselves in front of the engine houses, furnaces and foundry that would have been in use when Thomas and Gilchrist were doing their secret experiments.

The best entries will be uploaded to Cadw’s Facebook page and Facebook users will have the opportunity to vote for the winner by liking their favourite photograph.

The prize winner will receive a Nikon D3200 Digital SLR Camera as well as three-day family explorer pass.

To enter, download Cadw’s free Legendary Summer checklist, at cadw.gov.uk and take a picture of yourself and / or family and friends completing an activity on the checklist.

Then post your photo on Cadw’s Facebook or tweet it @CadwWales or @CadwCymru using the hashtag #CadwSummer or #HafCadw.

All entries must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, September 1, 2013.

Visit cadw.wales.gov.uk for competition terms and conditions.
