A MAN aged 66 from Magor found dead in a reen in Undy in March had suffered “a significant heart attack”, a coroner’s court was told.
The body of Terence Austin Morgan was found face up in the steep-sided reen by an Undy resident on March 30 this year.
Gwent coroner David Bowen was told that Mr Morgan was a heavy drinker who had separated from his wife Diane Ellis in 2008.
She told an inquest into Mr Morgan’s death that she used to deliver groceries to him.
She had last seen him on a bus in Portskewett, where she lived, about 10 days before his body was discovered.
A post mortem examination found no evidence of drowning.
It concluded that Mr Morgan, who had been intoxicated at the time of his death, died of ischaemic heart disease.
Verdict: Natural causes.
