THE POLICE watchdog confirmed it will investigate Gwent Police's contact with the estranged couple in yesterday's Newport shooting.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it has "assessed the referral from Gwent Police of the shooting yesterday morning in Willenhall Street, Newport, and has decided to independently investigate."
A further statement will be issued by the IPCC early next week.
