A CHEPSTOW sculpture garden which has attracted thousands of visitors since it opened in May is running its final exhibition of the year.

More than 300 pieces by 45 sculptors will be placed around Wyndcliffe Court Gardens, St Arvans by August 16, when they will be unveiled to the public.

The Elegance and Form autumn show comes hot on the heels of its summer version, which had works there like a hare, female forms and an unique design called ‘the onion’.

Described as a “national treasure”, Wyndcliffe Court Gardens were finished by Henry Avray Tipping in 1922, who made a walled garden for a previous owner of Chequers.

A spokeswoman for the gardens said: “Since opening for the first time in May, we could not have predicted the overwhelming response we have had from the public. Over 6,000 people, sales of over 150 sculptures and goodness knows how many hundreds of slices of cake and cups of tea have been enjoyed here.

“Our spring and summer sculpture shows have been great successes and we are looking forward to making the autumn show - our last sculpture show of 2013 - our best yet.”

It is open from August 16 to September 29 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, 11am to 6pm.
