TWO Monmouthshire women have started a business to help others resolve their own career dilemmas.
Angela Mawle, from Raglan, and Jayne Charbit, from Portskewett near Caldicot, have set up their own personalised guidance and coaching service after a decade working for Careers Wales.
Their tailored service is designed to suit the requirements of each client, offering flexible times, venues and ways of working.
According to the Office for National Statistics, in January this year, nearly a third of people aged 50 to 64 were classified as ‘economically inactive’, neither in employment nor unemployment.
Both experienced careers advisers, Mrs Mawle and Mrs Charbit have based their business around the value of personal, face-to-face career counselling and where desired, ongoing coaching to help clients achieve their goals.
They are long-term members of the Institute of Careers Guidance, founding members of the Career Development Institute and follow a code of ethics which includes confidentiality and impartiality.
“We all face many compromises and difficult choices in life,” said Mrs Mawle.
“Choosing a career or finding work and applying for jobs is not easy. Particularly in a recession and a constantly-changing world.”
Using the psychometric guidance tool, the Morrisby Profile, the pair provide an objective assessment of abilities and personality, linked to career ideas for persons aged 15 and over.
The test takes more than three hours to complete, and is used as the basis for an hour-long feedback and guidance session.
To celebrate the launch of their business, the duo are offering two complementary Morrisby tests and feedback sessions, worth £400. To enter, visit www.dragoncareerassociates.
