A further deliberate fire was started overnight, following arson incidents in Gwent on Tuesday night.
A car was “deliberately and maliciously” set alight in Pontypool in the early hours of the morning.
South Wales Fire and Rescue received a call at 5.18am and a crew from New Inn rushed to the scene.
The car was “well alight” by the time the firefighters arrived, and they had to use a hosereel and breathing apparatus to bring the blaze under control. No-one was injured.
This followed arson the previous night on the British Mountain in Abersychan, Coed Eva in Cwmbran and the Bulward area of Chepstow.
Firefighters were also called out to an accidental microwave fire in Baneswell, Newport, at 6.29pm yesterday evening. The fire had gone out by the time they arrived.
