NEWPORT’S Tiny Rebel brewery is set to open their own bar.
The Maesglas based-brewers have taken over the lease of what was Fire Island bar on Westgate Street in Cardiff, opposite the Millennium Stadium.
The new bar, which is currently nameless, will open mid-September and will generate 30 new jobs.
Stocking the full range of founders Bradley Cummings and Gareth Williams’ creations the bar will also stock “the best British and continental beers to put into our bar in cask, keg and bottle as well as our special brews under the ‘Tiny Batch Edition’ banner,”Mr Williams, 31, said.
“We’re looking to create somewhere where beer junkies like us can hang out,” Mr Cummings laughed.
“Ever since we got into brewing it is something we have talked about doing, having our own bar. We didn’t expect to have one this early but i guess it was a case of the right place at the right time.”
When asked if this was the beginning of a move for the business away from Newport, Mr Cummings, and ex-Bassaleg school boy who lives in Lliswerry said emphatically: “Definitely not.”
