A WELL-known Caerphilly woman celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family, including her great great granddaughter.
Bessie Williams marked the occasion on Tuesday at the Ty Iscoed residential home where she lives in Newbridge.
Originally from Bristol and one of eight children, Mrs Williams moved to Aberbargoed when she was eight.
In 1933 she married Victor Williams and had four children Maldwyn, Olwyn, John and Keith and lived in Ystrad Mynach.
Despite moving to Chester in 1959, she returned to the borough in 1978 when she and her second husband Jack retired to Llanbradach to be close to her family.
Mrs Williams has always been an active member of her communities and was involved in pensioners clubs and coffee mornings. She has lived at Ty Iscoed for the past seven years.
She has four children, eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren including the newest one, baby Harriett.
