PONTYPOOL residents are being challenged to zipslide 1,000 feet from the Newport Transporter Bridge across the Usk River for charity.
Action for Children is seeking daredevils who will raise vital funds for the country’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families by riding a zip wire from the bridge into Coronation Park on September 22.
Action for Children South Wales fundraiser, Tamsin Davies, said: “We’re lucky that Newport Transporter Bridge is right on our doorstep and happens to be one of the longest and highest zip wires in the UK.
“It’s a rare opportunity to see Newport from a different view, before plunging 320 metres across the river and into the park.”
Registration for the event is £40 and all participants are asked to raise a minimum of £100 for Action for Children. Participants must be aged 16 years or over; and parental consent is required for participants aged 16 or 17 years.
Participants must also be able to climb 11 flights of stairs to the only launch point for the slide.
