ARTISTS from Gwent are among those presenting an exhibition together in Cardiff, trying to bring affordable art to Wales.
The 6 Artists / 6 Visions project will open on August 27, having been planned since February.
Patrick Killian, one of the artists, who specialises in painting famous faces, said: “As a group of working artists we wanted to present a variety of styles.”
He praised his fellow exhibitors, describing “Emma Sian Pritchard’s abstract living colour collection, Lidija Pachemska’s naïve style of urban landscapes, Rob Ijbema’s wonderfully captured speed and movement on canvas, Lenka Moskvanova’s impressionistic architecture with figurative elements” and Vernon Jones’s seascapes which “will appeal to most with his realism style.”
Mr Killian said the inspiration for the exhibition was seeing the affordable art fairs in London and Bristol, where original works can be purchased from £40 to £4000.
He wants to set up something similar locally, and says The Gate in Cardiff seemed an ideal starting place.
Abstract artist Emma Pritchard is based in Blackwood, while Vernon Jones divides his time between Pontypool and Macedonia.
Patrick Killian is also from Gwent and now lives in Abercarn.
The exhibition will runs from August 27 until October 11 at The Gate Arts Centre, Roath, Cardiff.
