THE high street chain Specsavers has teamed up with Newport County AFC as its official community partner.
Specsavers will become a sponsor of the newly created 'County in the Community' scheme, to be launched at the beginning of September and headed up by former County favourite, Norman Parselle.
As the club’s community development officer, Mr Parselle will be going into 24 Newport primary schools on a fortnightly basis, in partnership with Newport Gwent Dragon's community scheme.
County chief executive, Dave Boddy said: "We are delighted to be adding another national brand name to our growing and impressive list of partners both locally and nationally.
"Our thanks go to Jason Williams, a partner in the Newport franchises, for committing their sponsorship to our new community initiative. We at Newport County AFC are passionate about our commitment to our community, as are Specsavers."
