CAMPAIGNERS will hold a protest outside Tesco in Pontypool to urge the retailer to stop selling lads' mags.

The protest is part of a national day of action called by the Lose the Lads' Mags campaign, lead by UK Feminista and Object, with protestors targeting Tesco stores.

Women's Aid and the End Violence Against Women coalition are amongst the organisations supporting the Lose the Lads' Mags campaign.

The national day of action comes in the wake of the Co-operative issuing an ultimatum to lads' mags to either be delivered to their stores in modesty bags or not be stocked at all.

Tesco has recently pledged to age-restrict lads' mags to over-18's, which campaigners branded a wholly inadequate "half-measure".

Campaigner Natasha Davies says that lads' mags send out the “damaging message that it's normal and acceptable to treat women like dehumanised sex objects.

“Both ethically and legally, lads' mags are well past their sell by date.”
