ANOTHER feature of the recreation ground in Pill is to be removed due to safety issues.
Last year residents were upset when a slide in the Newport district was taken down by the council, which blamed EU safety regulations at the time.
Now the authority is to remove a small bridge in the same grounds.
Newport council said that an inspector from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommended the authority should remove the bridge urgently due to the age of the unit and poor structural integrity. Officers have investigated the feasibility of repairing the unit but it is beyond repair, the council said.
It is understood the work will take place next week.
