NEWPORT-born Michelin star chef, Hywel Jones, will cook a special three-course supper banquet to celebrate the third Newport Food Festival.

The festival was launched by Newport City Council in 2011 and will take place later this year.

Councillor Debbie Wilcox, the council’s cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “The Food Festival supper is a unique opportunity to experience a meal from a Michelin star chef in Newport’s market.

“I would like to thank Hywel for giving up his time to cook the mouth-watering three course meal. He has supported the food festival since its launch and the supper will start what is set to be a great weekend of food celebration in Newport.”

The Michelin star chef has agreed to cook the special three-course meal, which will take place on the mezzanine level in Newport Market on Friday, October 4.

Tickets for the event will go on sale today (Thur) at 10am, priced £35 (plus booking fee) and will be available from The Riverfront box office on 01633 656757.

The menu is available to view on www.newportfoodfestival.co.uk and will source local, in-season produce.
