PAGE’S fish and chip restaurant in Cwmbran has reached a semi final of a national competition.
The restaurant in Cwmbran has been recognised as one of the UK’s best independent fish and chip restaurants as part of The National Fish & Chip Awards 2014, organised by Seafish.
Owned by Jonathon Page, the fish and chip restaurant will now compete from across the UK.
The restaurants are vying to become one of three finalists following a further round of judging which will include mystery shop visits.
Finalists will be announced in September, and invited to an awards ceremony in London in January, at which the overall winner will be crowned.
Mr Page said: “Last year we made the top five in the independent takeaway awards so we are over the moon that our efforts to match that quality in our restaurant has been recognized.
“The business was set up by my granddad in 1949, and I’m proud to see that not only have we continued to maintain a high local reputation, but also a national one as well."
He added that he believes that their relaxed family atmosphere and unique take on seasonal menus are just two of the reasons why they have been shortlisted.
The award recognises the UK’s best independent fish and chip restaurants, focusing on all aspects of running such a business including the premises, product, staff, customer service, marketing and promotion.
