A DATE has been set for the funeral of a woman fatally shot in a Newport street.
Caroline Parry, 46, will be laid to rest at St Woolos Cemetery on September 3.
The burial will follow a service at St Stephen's Church in the city.
Mrs Parry, believed to have been killed by her husband Christopher who turned the gun on himself, was shot in the back, an inquest heard.
The former couple of 27 years had been found lying next to each other following the incident on August 8, which took place on Seabreeze Avenue, Lliswerry.
Police said today, nearly three weeks after it happened, they still had not been able to question Mr Parry.
He remains in hospital under police guard, recovering from injuries he sustained in the shooting.
A spokeswoman for the force said it remains that Mr Parry’s medical condition has not improved sufficiently for them to be able to interview him.
Two officers are at his bedside.
Mr and Mrs Parry, who lived together in Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran, before they split, had two children.
Mrs Parry was her mother Joan Dare's only daughter.
Friends and work colleagues have commented on a Facebook page, created four days after the mum's death, called 'In Loving Memory of Caroline Parry' which has attracted 421 likes.
The case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) who will investigate Gwent Police's contact with the estranged couple as their relationship problems had been known to officers.
Previously IPCC Commissioner for Wales Tom Davies said: "Our investigation will look specifically at three incidents between May-July that the police were involved with to establish how they were risk assessed and how Gwent Police officers dealt with them and whether it had linked the incidents.
"Mr Parry held a firearms licence and our investigation will also seek to establish what police action was taken in relation to his licence for shotguns following the reports of the earlier incidents."
Officers recovered a shotgun and two spent rounds of ammunition from the scene.
