CAERPHILLY County Borough Council is reiterating their zero tolerance approach to residents who litter or let their dogs foul by insisting they will fine them if found guilty of the crimes.
The council has already handed out 81 fixed penalty notices to those dropping litter since April this year, while 14 fixed penalty notices have been issued to dog owners who have failed to clean up after their pets.
In 2012/13, 433 fixed penalty notices were issued to people committing similar offences.
Cllr David Poole, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, said: “It is disappointing to see that so many negligent people are still committing these offences.
“Our residents have identified these issues as a high priority, and the council will continue to actively pursue and take action against those who spoil the streets and beautiful environment of Caerphilly county borough.”
A fixed penalty notice carries a £75 fine. Non-payment of this notice will result in court prosecutions where magistrates can fine up to £1,000.
