A REFUSE fire spread across the first floor of abandoned Newport night club TJ’s this morning.
The small refuse fire started on the first floor of the three storey disused building at 3:53am.
Fire crews from Cwmbran, Duffryn and Maindee, were called to the building on Clarence Place with fire crews putting out the fire with a hose rail set and the use of two breathing apparatus.
The fire follows a suspected arson attack on the 30 by 20 meter building in February this year where a fire was started on the third storey.
TJ's closed in 2010, shortly after the death of John Sicolo, who ran the club for more than 40 years.
Acts which played at the legendary venue over the years included Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Oasis, Green Day and Catatonia.
The club was later sold at auction but has remained shut up since its closure.
