THE funeral of a mother who died following a double shooting in a Newport street will take place today.
Friends of Caroline Parry, 46, will pay tribute to their “beautiful angel” at St Stephen’s church in Adeline Street, Newport, followed by a burial at St Woolos Cemetery on Bassaleg Road this lunchtime.
The mum of two was found in Seabreeze Avenue with her estranged husband Christopher, 49, who had gunshot wounds to his face on August 8.
She died of gunshot wounds to the back while Mr Parry remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Tributes have been made to the mum with flowers and sympathy cards left in the street where she was injured while other commented on a Facebook page called “In Loving Memory of Caroline Parry”.
A card from a friend called Debbie read: "To my beautiful lifelong friend Caroline, I will miss you so much. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.”
In a touching tribute a man signing their name as Garry wrote: "To my darling sweet Caroline, I miss you so much. My darling visit me when you can.”
Another tribute said: "We will miss you so so much Caroline”.
And Wendy McInerney wrote on Facebook: “ Caroline and myself went to Duffryn High School and was in the same class for four years, she was a lovely girl well liked and had a funny sense of humour. A beautiful person RIP and God bless you Caroline xxx”
Police said officers investigating the shooting had recovered a small number of firearms Mr Parry held legally at an address in Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran.
Gwent Police said yesterday [September 2] they had not been able to talk him yet.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is also looking at the role of Gwent Police in the months before the shooting.
A service will take place at St Stephen’s church at noon followed by a funeral service at the Newport cemetery at 1pm.
