STAFF at Chepstow Garden Centre will be sticking the kettle on this month as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

John Hart and Sophie Reay, managers at the family own and run business, wanted to give something back to their local community by hosting their own coffee morning at the garden centre’s coffee shop.

Ms Reay, who signed them up, said: “It was just something that I felt was a really good cause. I’ve had experience with cancer in my family, and I know how hard it can be dealing with the problems cancer presents. That’s where Macmillan comes in, offering a helping hand when people need it most”

Mr Hart added: “I would urge all local residents to get involved in a coffee morning, dig deep, but have fun at the same time. It’s a real feel good factor knowing that you are making a difference to someone’s life”

The coffee morning will be held on September 27 from 9am until 11am with everyone welcome. All proceeds from the morning will be donated to Macmillan. A raffle will also take place.

Julia Shaw, local fundraising manager, said, “It’s thanks to the generosity and commitment from members of the public and businesses like Chepstow Garden Centre that Macmillan are able to help people affected by cancer. Holding your own coffee morning is simple, it’s a fun and easy way to fundraise and it can be held anywhere, at any time. There are currently 120,000 people living with cancer in Wales and we want to try and help as many of those as we can.”
