A job seeker from Newport was “humiliated” by being asked to dance in front of strangers at a job interview for Curry's.
Alan Bacon, 21, moved to Cardiff to find work after graduating from The University of South Wales this summer.
Mr Bacon, originally from Yorkshire, said: “I've been applying for hundreds of jobs since I graduated from university and was really pleased to have been given the opportunity.
“When I arrived, I and nine others were taken into a back room. The store manager walked in and opened up a power point presentation featuring a clip art image of people dancing.”
Mr Bacon says he was told: "You have 15 minutes to come up with a dance routine, any questions?"
He added: “If I didn't need the job so much I would have walked out then and there, but I and the others made the best out of the situation and kept on smiling while feeling horrible about it on the inside.”
Keen for the sales assistant job, Mr Bacon tried his best to dance to Daft Punk’s ‘Around the World’ in his suit, in front of 11 strangers.
He said: “It was really degrading. Curry's is basically making desperate job seekers of all ages come in and dance for the chance to get a real interview.”
Curry’s said in a statement: "Regrettably, the store in question did not follow our official recruitment processes on this specific occasion. We are currently investigating those members of the store who held the recruitment session. We are very sorry to those interviewees impacted on this occasion and would like to invite them back to attend an official interview, where they will be given a proper opportunity to demonstrate how they can contribute to our business."
