THE next part of Newport's controversial local development plan process will begin today with a consultation on alternative sites.
The authority is having to consult on a revision to the LDP after several alterations, including propoised Gipsy and Travellers sites, were made to the document.
From today the authority is consulting on proposals for alternative sites which the council is required to combine into an alternative sites register.
It includes suggestions for new sites and amendments or deletions of allocations.
The register for the six week consultation will be available from the council's website, together with representation forms that can be filled in online or printed out.
All documents are also available at the Information Station, Queensway, in all Newport libraries or on request.
Comments need to be made on the forms and must be submitted to the council no later than 5pm on October 18 by post, online or emailed to ldp.consultation@newport.gov.uk
The final version of the LDP will go before full council later this year. It will be submitted to the Welsh Government for examination. The LDP will help to shape the development of Newpor t until 2026.
