A series of summer fun days at The Heart of the Valleys Integrated Children’s Centre in Blaina have come to an end with a grand finale Rainforest Family Fun Day.
A total of 143 children and their families attended the event and met a mystery guest. - deputy minister for tackling poverty, Vaughn Gething.
He visited the centre on Wednesday August 28 and took part in many of the activities including a Bush Tucker Trail and draping a snake over his shoulders.
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Councillor Anita Hobbs, executive member for social services, children and active living, said: “The Deputy Minister was able to see and experience at first hand all the excellent work carried out with Children, Young People and families in Blaenau Gwent, through the Welsh Government Tackling Poverty flagship Programmes, Families First and Flying Start.”
A Blaenau Gwent spokeswoman said: “The Summer Programmes have enabled families to confidently liaise with Partner Agencies to access information and support to sign up to Services and to improve opportunities, potential, confidence and self–esteem.”
