A NEWPORT teen author says studies won’t stop her writing as she prepares to head off to university to study physics.
Beth Reeks, who made headlines last year after she scored a book deal with publisher Random House at the age of 17, held a book signing at Newport’s Waterstones bookshop on Saturday.
She told the Argus that she’s off to Exeter University next week to study physics – but that she is also working on a couple of new books.
Miss Reeks, 18, said: “I’m definitely going to keep writing while I’m there. I’ve been writing for so long now I don’t know if I would every really stop!”
The event in Newport on Saturday was her first official book signing and she said she was excited to meet her readers. She said: “It was really fun, it went quite well.”
Miss Reeks, who goes by her pen-name Beth Reekles, signed copies of her books the Kissing Booth and Rolling Dice at the Waterstones event where around 30 people attended.
Miss Reeks was snapped up by Random House after her story 'The Kissing Booth' attracted more than 40,000 comments on the web.
She has written her stories in her bedroom, and they have been published while she was also studying for A levels in Physics, Maths, French and Spanish.
The Kissing Booth, a romance starring pretty, popular, but never-been-kissed Elle Evans, and super cool player Noah Flynn, went on to be published last April.
Last month she was voted on to the Scouts’ annual birthday honours list, earning her a writers’ badge.
