A NEWPORT estate will hold an annual memorial service remembering the terrorist atrocities of September 11 2001 on Wednesday.
Bettws Shopping Centre has hosted a service in memory of incidents in America every year since 2002.
It has become an annual memorial not only to those who died in the tragedy but also to servicemen who lost their lives in conflicts that took place since.
Newport mayor Cliff Suller is due to attend the service which will mark the attacks' 12th anniversary .
It previous years pupils from local schools including Newport High School, Monnow Primary School and Ysgol Gymraeg Ifor Hael have taken part.
The September 11 attacks were launched by the terror group Al-Qaeda which committed a series of hijackings, targeting airliners to hit the World Trade Centre in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington. One plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the four incidents.
