WALKERS were invited to explore Newport in an industrial and heritage walk at the weekend.
The walkers followed the coast path from Newport’s Transporter Bridge along the banks of the River Usk to the traditionally managed hay meadows of the Traston Meadows nature reserve which is managed by Gwent Wildlife Trust.
The four-mile walk was led by countryside access warden Andy Briscombe along with his dog Meg.
Assistant countryside warden Gareth Emms also helped out with the event.
Participants included Graham Williams and Steve and Karen Lansdown.
The good weather allowed the walkers to take in the views and enjoy the heritage of the city.
