A NEWPORT bread shop owner is willing to offer a cash award after someone raided his business.

Cash from the till as well as two charity boxes was stolen from the shop. Paul Francis, who has run the Hot Bread Shop on Chepstow road for ten years, said: "I'm willing to offer a substantial cash reward if I find out who it was."

The wooden shutters of Mr Francis's shop were opened with bolt cutters, before the glass door was kicked through. The till's cash drawer was taken along with two charity boxes. One of these was raising money for the Maisie's Steps to Hope appeal and was thought to have up to £70 in it.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police confirmed police had been called at 4.05amyesterday morning (MON) to a break-in reported at the Hot Bread Shop on Chepstow Road, Newport.

The incident is thought to have occurred some time between 3pm on Sunday and 4am yesterday.
