GWENT Police have confirmed the man who died in last night's crash in Newport was a 22-year-old man from the Newport area.

The man was driving a white Audi S3 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was a 21-year-old woman passenger in the car, also from Newport, who received minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital.

Gwent Police received a call at approximately 10.30pm last night, Sunday 15th September, to a report of the collision at the roundabout on Balfe Road in Newport.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or who was travelling along the road around the time of the collision and saw the car is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 493 15/09/13.
