POLICE have still not been able to question Christopher Parry in connection with his estranged wife’s death more than a month after the incident.

Mr Parry, 49, remains in Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital, having been found lying on the ground in Seabreeze Avenue in the city at around 8.30am on August 8.

Mr Parry was found lying close to his estranged wife Caroline Parry, 46, who died later in hospital as a result of her injuries.

An inquest into Mrs Parry’s death found that she had died after being shot in the back.

A shotgun and two spent rounds of ammunition were recovered by officers from the scene, after neighbours had reported hearing shots fired.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that officers still had not spoken to Mr Parry, and that there was no confirmed date of when they planned to do so.

The case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) who will investigate Gwent Police's contact with the estranged couple as they had been known to officers.

Mrs Parry’s funeral was held at St Stephen’s church in Adeline Street, Newport earlier this month.
