GWENT Police are continuing to question a 26-year-old Newport man who was been arrested on suspicion of burglary following ramraids at two Tesco stores in Newport.
A 30-year-old Newport man who was also arrested has been released with no further action.
Gwent Police were called to the Tesco express Store on Cefn Road, Rogerstone at around 3am on Tuesday 17th September to reports of an attempted break-in with a car.
A further call was received at 3.20am reporting a similar incident at the Tesco Store on Malpas Road, Newport.
During both incidents no items appear to have been taken.
Officers have since recovered the car thought to have been used in the raids on Desland Park Road, Newport. They believe the car was stolen.
Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity at either store in the early hours of yesterday morning is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 38 17/09/13 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
