THE CHEPSTOW worker injured after falling off a loading bay today dislocated his ankle.
The accident happened at the Asda depot in town this morning, while the fire service were carrying out a safety inspection at the premises.
A crew from Chepstow was on site at the Newhouse Farm Industrial Estate when the man fell around 5ft.
They administered first aid and oxygen before the arrival of paramedics.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 9.35am to reports of a man who had fallen at a property on Newhouse Farm Industrial Estate in Mathern, Chepstow.
“We sent a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene, and a man in his 50s with an ankle injury was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital.”
A spokeswoman for Asda confirmed the man was an engineer working at their depot but is not directly employed by the supermarket.
She said he was a City Facilities employee.

A crew from Chepstow was on site at the Newhouse Farm Industrial Estate when the man fell around 5ft earlier this morning.
They administered first aid and oxygen at around 9.38am before the arrival of paramedics.
