THIS month sees the launch of Cardiff-based Fingertrap’s first ever EP, Until we get there. The five-track EP was recorded and produced in Magic Garden Studios, by Gavin Monoghan, and at One Louder Studios Newport, by Phil Smith (Of Newport band Kyshera).
Singer Sion Carver said: “Until We Get There is one of the songs on the EP, we chose that song as the title track as we’ve been waiting until we have enough songs to bring out an album for a while, so the Until We Get There EP is just a stepping stone to an album”.
Following on from the success of the release of their first single Return If Found in July, Fingertrap have spent the best part of a year working on the EP, foregoing gigs and promotion in favour of practicing and writing.
Bass player/Vocalist Nick Savage said: “We wanted strong songs and the tracks sounding their best. The tracks are sounding amazing and we are excited for people to hear them.”
The band are also prominent members of the South Wales Music Collective and chose to take advantage of the collective’s EP-launch scheme in order to release their work.
The band have also recently taken on a new manager, Radio Cardiff’s Scott Travers. They will also be releasing a music video for one of the tracks on the EP, Penny Fishing.
The launch date is set for September 28 in Buffalo Bar in Cardiff. Tickets are £4. The EP will be available in many independent record shops, priced £5.
