MARGAM Park’s Orangery provided the setting for a unique performance of the very best tunes from the world of West End musicals on Sunday evening.

A nine piece orchestra, conducted by Jeff Howard opened proceedings with the Overture from Oklahoma setting the tone for an evening of first class entertainment.

Beverley Humphreys was the perfect compere for the night passionately taking the audience on a musical journey which included her performing songs from Funny Girl and Oh, Kay!

Young performers Adam Robert Lewis and West End actress Katie Treharne delighted the audience with a string of memorable solo and duet performances from shows such as Phantom of The Opera Guys and Dolls and Cinderella.

Both Adam and Katie have powerful voices, living the songs they sang.

Adam clearly displayed the wow factor on Kiss of the Spider Woman and This is the Moment from Jekyll and Hyde while Katie definitely had the edge on songs such as That’ll Show Him from A Funny Thing happened on the way to the Forum and If I were a Bell from Guys and Dolls.

If the audience weren’t spoiled enough, acclaimed choir Noteworthy were also on hand to deliver outstanding renditions of songs from West Side Story and Rent with their Musical Director Ryan Wood and Jeff Howard sharing piano duties throughout the evening.

The evening’s climax saw performers unite on stage to perform selections from Beauty and the Beast and a medley from Les Miserables resulting with a well earned standing ovation from the audience.

I enjoyed the variety of musicals the show had to offer, a good balance of the well known and not so well known, but guaranteed to leave the majority of the audience humming great show tunes as we walked back to our cars.
