A NEWPORT hairdresser raised more than £700 for charity by shaving her head.
Eloise Pobjoy, 21, a stylist at Inca Hair & Beauty, Stow Hill lost around six inches of hair when her manager Abigail Scrimshire chopped her short bob to create a grade two cut.
Miss Pobjoy, of Bassaleg, said she wanted to do something for St David’s Hospice Care and decided that as she isn’t a keen runner, she would go for a drastic new hairstyle.
She said: “I’ve never done anything like this before but took the plunge in the salon in front of around 15 friends, family and clients.”
“It took about five minutes but the reaction I got from everyone was fantastic.”
She added: “It feels bizarre to have this short hair but I really like it and am pleased to have raised so much for a good cause.”
Sally Rees, fundraising manager for Newport and Monmouthshire St David’s Hospice Care said: “ We are delighted that Eloise has chosen to support St David’s Hospice Care, at just 21 she is an exceptional young lady who has chosen to help others by shaving her head, which is very brave at such a young age.”
