http://c4catamputee.wordpress.comA CAT was shot in Risca last week, causing it to have its leg and shoulder amputated.

The three-year old cat named C4 had his front-left leg and shoulder blade amputated as a result of the bullet shattering his bone.

Owners Kerry, James and Bethany Griffith think the cat, named C4, was shot by a small pellet gun last Thursday night or Friday morning around Darren Road.

C4, a grey tabby, was rushed to the Risca branch of Budget Vets when he returned home on Friday morning holding its paw and crying in pain.

X-rays showed multiple fractures to the proximal humerus causing obstruction to shoulder joint also affecting C4’s neck. The veterinary surgeon confirmed the only option was to remove the leg and shards of bone.

Mrs Griffith said: “The police have been involved, but unfortunately with no witnesses we are not sure if this was a malicious act or who could have done such a thing. We just want to make other, local pet owners aware and ask the public to report any other cases of animal shootings.”

Sara Morris, practice manager at Budget Vets, added: “C4's leg was damaged beyond repair. We were forced to amputate and remove the bullet and any remaining shards of bone.

“He'll now have to wear a collar for ten days of rest.”
