A grant of more than £60,000 will be used to improve cycling and pedestrian access along the main route between Pontypool and Abersychan.
The grant, secured by Torfaen council from the Welsh Government’s tranquil, greener and cleaner programme, will be used to improve alternative access for cyclists and pedestrians along Snatchwood Road.
The grant will go towards creating a new route which will control access in favour of pedestrians, mobility scooters and cyclists.
There will also be wild flower areas along the river and grassland.
Cllr John Cunningham, executive member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “I was delighted to hear that funding had been secured to improve access along this busy stretch of road.
“We’re always looking at improving access throughout Torfaen for all residents and I look forward to seeing the completed project.”
